In 1869, he moved on to the higher girls' school, and in 1870, he began teaching at the Czech Real Gymnasium in Prague. From 1875 onwards, he served as a tenured teacher at the Trutnohradská Street Gymnasium.

Scholarly Contributions

Kovař made significant contributions to the field of Czech language and history. He authored a school textbook on Czech grammar and wrote numerous articles for patriotic journals. From 1894 onwards, he served as editor-in-chief of the periodical "Sborník Historického kroužku."

Later Years and Legacy

In 1914, Kovař purchased the cottage Vysoký Hrádek. He carved a cave into the rock north of the castle, where he placed a statue of the Virgin Mary. The statue included stone and clay from Lourdes, which Kovař had personally collected from France.

In 1925, Kovař sold his castle and moved to Slovakia, where he lived on his son's farm in Jablonná, Humenné. He passed away in 1934 and was laid to rest in the cemetery of the village of Všeň, near Semily.

Kovař's legacy as a teacher, writer, and historian remains significant in the Czech Republic. He was a dedicated educator and a passionate advocate for his homeland and its language. He served as a mentor to many, including the renowned writer Jaroslav Hašek.
