Biography of Matthew Good
Matthew Frederick Robert Good, born on June 29, 1971, is a Canadian rock musician. He began his music career by creating a series of folk-style demo recordings and working as a soloist in the folk group 'Rodchester Kings'. It was at one of their concerts at Simon Fraser University that Matthew and his colleague, guitarist Simon Woodcock, caught the attention of manager Brent Christensen.
Formation of Matthew Good Band
The Matthew Good Band was formed in Coquitlam, British Columbia in 1993. In late 1993, they recorded a short demo version of the song 'Euphony'. In 1994, the band won a prize at a competition organized by a local radio station. As part of the prize, they had the opportunity to record at a local studio. In September 1994, they released their album '15 hours on a September Thursday', which featured songs such as 'Second Sun', 'Dancing Invisible', and 'Push'. In December 1994, the band signed a contract with EMI Publishing.
Success and Solo Career
In March 1995, the original lineup of the band embarked on a concert tour across Canada. However, after the tour, the band disbanded and Matthew recruited new band members. Throughout the late 1990s, the band continued to actively perform, but internal conflicts led to the departure of guitarist and keyboardist Dave Genn. Despite his temporary return, he ultimately left the band for good after completing work on their album.
After Genn's departure, Matthew Good disbanded the group and began his solo career. He continues to make music to this day. In 2008, he started working on his fourth solo album, 'Vancouver'. The album was released in 2009 under the 'Universal Music Canada' label, a departure from his previous independent projects. The official release took place on October 6, 2009, with the first two hundred copies personally signed by Good. A month before the release, the album's music was made available for free on his website, as Good has always believed in making his creative work as accessible as possible to his fans.
