Matthew Langford Perry, an American-Canadian actor, was born on August 19, 1969, in Williamstown. He is best known for his role as Chandler Bing in the American comedy TV series "Friends" (1994-2004). Perry has also appeared as a guest actor in the series "Ally McBeal" and "The West Wing," and has done voice work for an episode of "The Simpsons."

Early Life and Family

Matthew Perry was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts, USA, but grew up in Ottawa, Canada. His father, John Bennett Perry, was an actor, and his mother, Suzanne Perry, served as a press secretary for Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. Perry's parents divorced and remarried, with his stepfather being Canadian NBC announcer Keith Morrison and his stepmother being Debbie Perry. He has four sisters and one brother. Perry completed his high school education at Rockcliffe Park School in Ottawa and attended Ashbury College.

Acting Career and Personal Life

Perry began his acting career at the age of 15. He holds dual American-Canadian citizenship. However, he struggled with drug and alcohol addiction for several years. Perry hosted the ESPY Awards ceremony on July 13, 2005, in Los Angeles. He is a big fan of hockey, with the NHL team "Ottawa Senators" being his favorite. In the spin-off series "Joey," Perry's photograph appears in every episode, displayed in the new apartment of the character Joey alongside a picture of Chandler (played by Perry).

Perry has been in a relationship with "Baywatch" star Yasmine Bleeth. He was also the youngest among the main cast members of "Friends."
