Biography of May Andersen

Early Life and Career

May Andersen, also known as Lukke May, was born on June 19, 1982, in Copenhagen, Denmark. In her childhood, May dreamed of becoming a singer and took vocal lessons from professionals. However, her career path took a sudden turn when a photographer noticed the thirteen-year-old girl on the streets of Copenhagen. The "model hunter" convinced May and her parents that she had the potential for a successful modeling career, despite her young age.

At the age of seventeen, May moved to New York, and the press jokingly referred to her as a "runway veteran" due to her early success and activity in the industry. She collaborated with renowned fashion houses such as Gianfranco Ferré, Christian Lacroix, Prada, Ralph Lauren, and others. May became particularly well-known for her work with American retailer Victoria's Secret and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

Controversies and Legal Issues

In 2000, May was involved in a car accident on Sixth Avenue, where she suffered a broken collarbone, wrist fractures, and pelvic injuries. She later received compensation from the city of New York for the incident. Additionally, her choice to wear fur clothing for fashion shows made her a target for animal rights activists.

On April 20, 2006, May once again found herself in the spotlight, this time due to a physical altercation with a flight attendant on a Martinair Flight 643 from Amsterdam to Miami. She was reported to have been disruptive and unruly throughout the flight. Upon landing, the airport police arrested May, who continued to shout and resist authorities. She was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for a medical examination to determine if she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

While May denied the allegations against her in an interview with Danish television, she ultimately agreed to a deal to resolve the legal proceedings. The charges against her were dropped in exchange for her completion of anger management courses. She underwent treatment for the diagnosed psychological condition in New York, as the recommended rehabilitation method was not practiced in Denmark.

Personal Life

May Andersen started dating musician Kid Rock after his divorce from Pamela Anderson, just four months after their wedding.
