Mehdi Taremi: Iranian Football Icon
Early CareerMehdi Taremi began his professional football journey with Shahin Bushehr FC, making his debut in the Iranian Pro League on October 29, 2010. He scored his first top-flight goal on December 4, 2010, against Naft Tehran FC.
Rise to Prominence
In 2014, Taremi joined Persepolis FC, where he established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in Iran. He won the Pro League Golden Boot award twice, in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons.
International Debut
Taremi made his international debut for Iran on June 11, 2015, in a friendly match against Uzbekistan. He scored his first goal for the national team in a World Cup qualifying match against Guam on September 3, 2015.
European Adventure and Suspension
In 2016, Taremi briefly joined Turkish club Rizespor before returning to Persepolis. However, his contract with Rizespor was terminated due to a breach of contract, which resulted in a four-month FIFA suspension.
Return to Qatar
After serving his suspension, Taremi signed a six-month contract with Qatari club Al-Gharafa in January 2018. He also attracted interest from several Greek and other European clubs.
