Early Life and Family
Michael L Brea was born in New York City to Haitian parents, Marcel and Yanick Brea. Despite being raised in the United States, Haitian culture played a significant role in Michael's upbringing. Inspired by his father's patriotism, he harbored a deep desire to produce a film that would showcase Haiti's history, culture, and struggle for independence.
Business and Community Involvement
In 2007, Michael opened a Subway restaurant in Brooklyn, New York. His mission extended beyond commercial success to encompass community development. Driven by his mother's example of helping those in need, he dedicated himself to serving the neighborhood. In 2008, Michael made headlines by distributing 300 free foot-long sandwiches on Thanksgiving, crediting his parents for instilling in him the value of generosity.

Tragic Event
In November 2010, Michael's life took a tragic turn when he was arrested for the murder of his mother, Yanick Brea. The victim's head was severed with a samurai sword, reportedly in multiple strikes. Witnesses described hearing Michael reciting Bible passages during a heated argument that preceded the violence. Due to the nature of the incident, he was initially remanded for psychiatric evaluation.
