Biography of Michael Garnett
Canadian hockey player, goaltender, currently playing in the British Elite Ice Hockey League for the Nottingham Panthers, an English hockey club from Nottingham.
Professional Career
Michael Garnett's professional career began in the lower leagues of North America in 1999. In 2001, he was selected in the 3rd round, 80th overall, by the Atlanta Thrashers in the NHL Draft. In the 2005/06 season, due in part to injuries to the team's leading goaltenders, Kari Lehtonen and Mike Dunham, Garnett played 24 games in the NHL for the Atlanta Thrashers.
Move to Europe
In 2007, as an unrestricted free agent, Michael joined the Russian Super League club Neftekhimik. In the following season, he made his debut in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with HC MVD, with whom he won the silver medal in the 2010 championship. That same year, Garnett participated in the KHL All-Star Game and was named to the league's symbolic team at the end of the season.
Transition to Moscow Dynamo
Before the start of the 2010/11 season, Garnett became a player for Moscow Dynamo, where he played 40 games with a goals against average of 2.26.
Signing with Chelyabinsk Traktor
On May 2, 2011, Michael signed a two-year contract with the Chelyabinsk Traktor.
