Michael Schiavo, an American public figure, gained popularity during the active fight for the fate of his wife, Terri Schiavo, who was in a coma for a long time and had lost all hope of a normal existence. Michael was born on April 3, 1963, in an Italian family, and was the youngest of five brothers. He attended Bucks County Community College, where he met his future wife, Terri. They got married five months after meeting on November 10, 1984. The couple settled in Pennsylvania, where Michael took a position as a manager in a restaurant. After a few years, they moved to Florida. Michael faced difficulties with employment, often changing jobs and sometimes being unemployed. However, the lives of Terri and Michael Schiavo slowly started to improve.

Terri's Tragedy and Michael's Role as Guardian

The tragedy occurred on February 25, 1990. Terri suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed while at home. Michael, awakened by the noise, rushed his wife to the hospital. After examining Terri's condition, doctors delivered a fatal verdict – her brain was irreparably damaged and could not be restored. The 26-year-old woman became a decorticate in an instant. In the summer of 1990, Michael Schiavo was appointed as his wife's guardian and sent her to a rehabilitation center in California. Michael took care of Terri and even completed special courses on caring for similar patients. Initially, he maintained a good relationship with Terri's parents, but disagreements arose and eventually escalated into a war.

The Legal Battle for Terri's Life

In 1998, Michael Schiavo filed a motion in court to terminate Terri's life support. He argued that she never wanted to live in such a state and had expressed her wishes multiple times. Terri's parents were outraged and strongly opposed Michael's request. Supporters even offered him money, including a million dollars from a wealthy individual, and threatened him with death. They also appealed to the government. Despite the authorities supporting Terri's parents, the court ruled to end the artificial life support. In March 2005, doctors disconnected Terri, who had been in a coma for 15 years, from the machines. She passed away shortly after.
