Mikhail Mikhailovich Zakharov
Early Life and Playing Career:Mikhail Zakharov was a renowned Soviet and Belarusian ice hockey player. He began his career as a forward and participated in the 1994 and 1995 World Championships in Group C as part of the Belarusian national team. Throughout his 17 appearances with the team, he accumulated 18 points (7 goals, 11 assists) and 32 penalty minutes.
Coaching Career:
After retiring from playing, Zakharov embarked on a successful coaching career. He gained recognition as the head coach of multiple teams simultaneously, including national and club teams. Notably, he held the role of head coach for the Belarusian national team, the Belarusian youth team, and HC Yunost Minsk in 2004.
In November 2009, Zakharov simultaneously coached three teams: the Belarusian and Ukrainian national teams, as well as HC Yunost Minsk. However, he stepped down from the Belarusian and youth national team positions in 2006 after the former failed to qualify for the 2006 Olympics and the latter was relegated from the World Championships Elite Division.
Current Affiliations:
Currently, Zakharov remains the head coach of the Ukrainian national ice hockey team and HC Yunost Minsk. He continues to play a significant role in the development and success of both teams.
