Biography of Michał Żebrowski
Michał Żebrowski is a Polish actor of theater, television, radio, and film. He was born on June 17, 1972, in Warsaw, Poland. From a young age, Michał had a dream of becoming an actor. He attended the recitation circle at his school and even won prizes in recitation competitions.
Education and Early Career
After graduating from the Warsaw XI High School named after Mikołaj Rey, Michał enrolled at the Acting Department of the State Higher Theater School in Warsaw in 1991. He completed his studies there in 1995. During his third year of education, he made his television debut in the teleplay "Samowolka" (1993) alongside Robert Gonera and in the TV thriller "Snimem komnatu..." (1993) with Igor Pshykrotsky and Beata Ścibakówna. His debut on stage was in the role of Jimmy Porter in John Osborne's play "Look Back in Anger" (1994) directed by Mariusz Benoit at the Zigmunt Hübner Public Theater.
Theater and Film Career
Michał Żebrowski has performed in several Warsaw theaters, including Ateneum Stefan Jaracz Theater (since 1997), National Theater (2004), Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz Studio (2005), Nowa Praga Theater (2006), Comedy Theater (2007), and Grand Theater (2007). He made his film debut as a young worker who becomes an unintentional leader of the Poznań protests in the historical film "Poznań 56" (1996).
Some of his notable film roles include Jan Skrzetuski in the adaptation of Henryk Sienkiewicz's novel "With Fire and Sword" (1999), for which he was nominated for an Eagle Award for Best Male Lead. He also gained critical acclaim for his portrayal of Tadeusz Soplica in the film adaptation of Adam Mickiewicz's poem "Pan Tadeusz" (1999). In 2001, he was nominated for an Eagle Award for his role as Geralt of Rivia, also known as the White Wolf, in the fantasy film "The Witcher."
Awards and Recognition
Throughout his career, Michał Żebrowski has received numerous awards and accolades. He won the jury, audience, and Jan Machulski awards at the 13th Theater Schools Review in Łódź in 1995 for his theatrical debut and performances in various plays. He has also received the Television Academy Victor Award, the Golden Medal of the Golden Five readers' poll in "TeleRzeczpospolita" newspaper, and the Golden Duck award.
In addition to his acting career, Michał Żebrowski is involved in various artistic endeavors. He has released albums where he recites Polish poetry for children and has collaborated on musical projects.
Personal Life
On June 20, 2009, Michał Żebrowski married Aleksandra Adamczyk in the Tatra Mountains, near their home. They have a son together, born on March 30, 2010. Since March 2010, Michał has been the co-founder and director of the Sixth Floor Theater in Warsaw.
