Michelle Rempel Garner
Michelle Rempel Garner is a Canadian politician who was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 2011 election as a member of the federal Conservative Party of Canada. She represents the electoral district of Calgary Centre-North.
Educational and Career Background
Rempel Garner holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Manitoba. Prior to her election to Parliament, she worked at the University of Calgary. Before that, Rempel Garner served as the Constituency Executive Chairperson for the Calgary Nose Hill Federal Conservative Party.
Political Career
On July 15, 2013, Rempel Garner was appointed Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification. At the time, she became the youngest woman to serve as a cabinet minister in Canadian history at the age of 33. In November 2015, Rempel Garner was appointed Official Opposition Critic for Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship. In this role, Rempel Garner advocated for the rights of humans and fought for the support of ethnocultural minorities.
