Early Life and Education
Mikhail Ivanovich Zveryakov was born on January 4, 1952, in the village of Sofievka, Odessa Region, Ukraine. He graduated from the Odessa Technical College of Gas and Oil Industry in 1971 and worked at the Yevpatoria Oil Base.
From 1971 to 1975, Zveryakov studied at the Faculty of Credit and Economics of the Odessa Institute of National Economy, graduating with honors. In 1975, he entered the postgraduate program in the Department of Political Economy, focusing on the economic problem of reducing the cost of circulation.
Military Service and Dissertation
In 1976-1977, Zveryakov served in the Soviet Army. In June 1980, he successfully defended his dissertation, earning a Candidate of Economic Sciences degree. In June 1985, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in Political Economy.
Academic Career
From 1980 to 1988, Zveryakov held the positions of Assistant and Associate Professor in the Department of Political Economy. In 1988, he became the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Academic Work with Foreign Students.
From 1992 to 1995, Zveryakov pursued a doctoral degree in the Institute's doctoral program. During this time, he published 48 scientific and academic works. From 1994 to 1996, he conducted research at the University of Cologne, Germany, with a scholarship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
In 1996, Zveryakov successfully defended his doctoral dissertation and was awarded a Doctor of Economic Sciences degree in 1997.
Banking and Administrative Roles
From 1997 to November 1998, Zveryakov served as the Head of the Department of the Bank "Ukraine." From November 1998 onwards, he held the position of First Deputy Director of the Bank "Ukraine" in the Odessa Region.
University Leadership and Academic Honors
In 2000, Zveryakov was appointed Rector of the Odessa State Economic University. In the same year, he was awarded the title of Professor in the Department of General Economic Theory. Zveryakov is an Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Higher Education of Ukraine and the Academy of Economic Cybernetics of Ukraine. He is also the Chairman of the Commission of the Council of Rectors on the Development of Higher Education in the Odessa Region.
