After losing his beloved daughter to breast cancer, British plasterer Mike Summers vowed to prioritize his health for the sake of his grandchildren. Weighing over 170kg in August 2018, he embarked on a transformative journey that would shed an astonishing 76kg.

Overcoming Health Challenges

Diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and atrial fibrillation, Mike's excess weight exacerbated his health concerns. Motivated by the promise he had made to his daughter, he joined Slimming World to address his diet and regain control over his conditions.

Slimming World Support and Culinary Transformation

With the support of his group in Trealaw, Rhondda, Mike adopted a new approach to cooking. He continued to enjoy his favorite foods, such as fried rice and takeout, but prepared them at home with healthier methods.

Goal Surpassed

Through dedication and determination, Mike consistently lost 6-6.5kg per month. Now weighing between 92-94kg, he has far exceeded his initial weight loss goal.

Rediscovering Life

Since his transformation, Mike has enjoyed four vacations with his wife, Deborah. While he allows himself some indulgences, he remains mindful of his health and has developed new, healthier eating habits.
