Early Life and Education
Vasyl Vasilyovych Hunda was born on November 24, 1928, in the village of Morintsy, Zvenyhorodskyi Raion, Ukrainian SSR (now Ukraine). Born to a peasant family, he completed his education at a vocational trade school in Mariupol in 1948.
Career in Metallurgy
Metallurgical Combine named after IlyichFrom 1948 to 1971, Hunda worked at the Ilyich Metallurgical Combine in Mariupol. Initially a helper to steelworker Ivan Lut, he later became a steelworker in the first furnace of the open-hearth shop.
Political Involvement
In 1963, Hunda was elected as a deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR, serving in this role until 1967.
