Milan Galić, a renowned Yugoslav footballer, left an indelible mark on the world of soccer as a prolific striker.

Early Career and Success with Partizan

Born in Zrenjanin, Galić developed his football skills at Proleter's youth academy. In 1958, he joined Belgrade's Partizan, where he forged a successful partnership with Dragan Đajić. During his time there, Galić won four Yugoslav championships (1960-61, 1961-62, 1962-63, 1963-64) and reached the final of the European Cup in 1965-66.

International Achievements

Galić made his international debut in 1959 and quickly became a vital member of the Yugoslav national team. He scored memorable goals at the 1960 European Championship (against the Soviet Union) and the 1960 Olympic Games, where he won a gold medal. At the 1962 World Cup, his team finished fourth.

Glory with Standard Liège

After leaving Partizan in 1966, Galić moved to Standard Liège in Belgium. There, he added two Belgian league titles (1968-69, 1969-70) and a Belgian Cup (1967) to his trophy collection. In 1970, he signed for French club Reims, where he finished his professional career in 1973.

With 37 goals in 51 appearances, Galić is Yugoslavia's second-highest goalscorer of all time, behind only Stevan Bobeck.
