Early Life and Education
Born in Croatia, this prominent political figure pursued a degree in Political Science at the University of Zagreb, graduating in 1991.
Parliamentary Debut
Her political career commenced in 1992 with her election to the Croatian Parliament. She successfully retained her seat in subsequent elections held in 2000, 2003, 2007, and 2011.
Rise in the Social Democratic Party
Within the Croatian Parliament, she became Deputy Chairperson of the Social Democratic Party's parliamentary faction in 2007. Her parliamentary experience was further enriched as she chaired the Committee on Family, Youth, and Sports.
Government Leadership
Following the 2011 elections, she ascended to the position of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Policy and Youth on December 23, 2011. In this role, she assumed responsibility for key social and youth-related policies within the government led by Zoran Milanović.
