Biography of Miles Tredinnick
Early CareerMiles Tredinnick is a rock musician, poet, playwright, and screenwriter. In the 1970s, he was the lead vocalist of the British rock band 'London'. After leaving the band, he shifted his focus to writing comedic plays.
The Band 'London'
'London' was formed in 1976, with Tredinnick as the lead singer. The original lineup also included drummer Jon Moss, guitarist Dave Wight, and bassist Steve Voice. The group gained the attention of talent scout Danny Morgan and former manager of Marc Bolan, Simon Napier-Bell. They signed a record deal with 'MCA Records' and toured as the supporting act for 'The Stranglers'. The band released several singles and their debut album, 'London' or 'Animal Games', under Napier-Bell's guidance. Although their concerts were successful, the sales of their records were not impressive. The band eventually disbanded after a farewell concert at the 'Marquee Club' on Wardour Street.
Post-Band Careers
After the breakup of 'London', Jon Moss joined 'The Damned' and later co-founded 'Culture Club' with Boy George. Colin White left the music industry and pursued a career in international politics, eventually becoming a professor. Steve Voice formed the band 'The Original Vampires'. Simon Napier-Bell continued to manage the music careers of George Michael and 'Wham!'. Miles Tredinnick, under the pseudonym 'Piff Regan', released four more singles under 'MCA Records' - 'All The Nice Boys And Girls In The World', 'Japanese Girls', 'You Call Me Lucky', and 'The Only One'. His final recording as Piff Regan, 'Hard Hearts Don't Cry', was released by 'Epic Records' in 1981.
Reunion and Recent Career
In 2007, Miles Tredinnick reformed 'London' with Steve Voice. The new lineup included guitarist Hugh O'Donnell and drummer Colin Watterston. They performed their first reunion concert on February 23, 2008, and continue to perform to this day. In February 2012, their first studio album in years, 'Reboot', was released. Tredinnick also achieved success as a playwright. His plays 'Because Of Mr Darrow' and 'Laugh? I Nearly Went To Miami!' were performed in London theaters and even in Vienna.
Screenwriting and Writing
In 1990, Tredinnick wrote the screenplay for the thriller 'Twist', which was later translated into German and had a US release in 2010. In 1994, he wrote the screenplay for the comedy 'It's Now Or Never!', which was translated into Dutch and German. From 1985 to 1992, Tredinnick regularly wrote scripts for Frankie Howerd's shows. In addition to screenwriting, Tredinnick has also authored books. His first novel, 'Fripp', was published in 2001, and an electronic version was released in 2011.
