Biography of Mircea Geoană

Mircea Geoană is a Romanian diplomat who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania. He began his career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1990 and quickly rose through the ranks. Within six years, he was appointed as the ambassador to the United States, where he worked until becoming the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Education and Early Career

Mircea Geoană graduated from the Polytechnic Institute and the Law Faculty of the University of Bucharest. After completing his education, he started his career in the construction company "Energomontaj." However, the fall of the Ceausescu regime in 1989 led him to join the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Throughout his career, Geoană has been a recipient of scholarships from NATO and the World Bank. He also completed his studies at the National School of Administration in Paris. In addition to his native Romanian, Geoană is fluent in English, French, and Spanish.
