Miri Regev: Early Life and Military Career

Miri Regev was born in Kiryat Gat, Israel in 1965. In 1983, she joined the preparatory military course, GADNA, where she rose to the rank of platoon commander, serving until 1986. She then became the Deputy Spokesperson for the Southern Military District.

Regev continued her military career, achieving the rank of Brigadier General and becoming the IDF Spokesperson in 2005. She held this position during Israel's unilateral disengagement from the Gaza Strip and the 2006 Second Lebanon War.

Political Career

In 2008, Regev joined the Likud party. In the 2009 party primaries, she secured the 27th spot, later entering the Knesset when Likud won 27 seats in the parliamentary elections. Regev served on various parliamentary committees, including the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Finance Committee, Internal Affairs and Environmental Protection Committee, and the Joint Committee on the Defense Budget.

Controversial Statements and Anti-Immigration Activism

Regev is known for her controversial statements and anti-immigration activism. She has been criticized for calling Sudanese immigrants a "cancerous tumor on the body of society."

Ministerial Positions

Regev has held several ministerial positions, including Minister of Culture and Sports since 2015 and Minister of Transportation since 2020.
