Early Life and Education
Miron Yefimovich Yefimov was born on August 27, 1915, in the village of Samushkino, Chuvashia, into a peasant family. He completed three years of study at the Institute of Physical Culture before joining the Soviet Navy in 1936. In 1939, he graduated from the Yeysk Naval Aviation School.
World War II Service
Yefimov joined the Great Patriotic War in 1941 as a squadron commander in the 18th Assault Aviation Regiment of the Black Sea Fleet Air Force. By July 1942, he had flown 112 combat sorties, including 78 ground attack missions against enemy forces.
Heroic Exploits
Yefimov's bravery and leadership earned him the title Hero of the Soviet Union on June 14, 1942. The decree cited his exemplary execution of combat missions and the courage and heroism he displayed. He received the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal No. 862.
Post-War Career
After the war, Yefimov continued serving in the Armed Forces. He graduated from the Advanced Officers' Courses of the Air Force in 1947 and served in the Air Defense Forces of the country. He retired from active duty in 1961 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Later Life and Legacy
Yefimov lived in Moscow until his passing. He remained a revered figure and received the honorary rank of Colonel in 2000. His name was bestowed upon the pioneer group of the Russko-Sorminskaya Secondary School in Chuvashia.
