Biography of Mitch Daniels
Mitchell Elias 'Mitch' Daniels, Jr. was born in 1949 in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. He spent his childhood in different states and graduated from high school in Indianapolis. In 1967, Daniels became a participant in the "Presidential Scholar" program, and he earned his bachelor's degree from Princeton University. He later obtained his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1979.

Early Political Career
Daniels gained his first political experience in the late 1960s during William Ruckelshaus' campaign. In the early 1970s, while still a college student, he worked in support of Republican Richard Lugar during his Senate campaign in Indiana. He later served as Lugar's aide and continued to work for him until 1984 when Lugar became the chairman of the Republicans in the Senate.

Professional Experience
In 1985, Daniels worked in the administration of President Ronald Reagan. He returned to Indiana in 1987 and became the chief of the Hudson Institute. Throughout the 1990s, he worked in various commercial organizations, including Eli Lilly and Company. In January 2001, Daniels was appointed as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget in the White House and resigned in 2003. He also served as a member of the National Security Council.

Governor of Indiana
In November 2004, Daniels was elected as the 49th governor of Indiana, defeating the incumbent Democrat Joe Kernan with 53% of the vote. As governor, Daniels focused on developing Indiana's economy. His experience in the private sector allowed him to take effective steps, such as reorganizing the Department of Commerce and implementing reforms in the private business sector. By 2008, Indiana had achieved significant financial and economic growth. Daniels also paid attention to agricultural policy in the state, implemented changes in insurance and healthcare, and gained popularity among the state's residents due to tax cuts.

Personal Life
Mitch Daniels is married to Cheri Lynn Herman Daniels, and they have four daughters together.
