Early Life and Education
Mona Fortier is a Canadian politician and a member of the Liberal Party. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Ottawa.
Activism and Advocacy
Prior to entering politics, Fortier was actively involved in advocating for the rights of Franco-Ontarians. She served on the board of Montfort Hospital and the Ontario Francophone Affairs Advisory Council.
Entry into Politics
In 2017, Fortier was elected to the House of Commons in a by-election in the traditionally Liberal-held riding of Ottawa—Vanier, following the death of incumbent Liberal MP Mauril Bélanger. She won with 51.2% of the vote, defeating New Democratic Party candidate Emilie Taman.
Re-election and Cabinet Appointments
Fortier was re-elected in 2019. In November 2019, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appointed her Minister of Middle Class Prosperity and Associate Minister of Finance.
Chair of the Treasury Board
Following the 2021 federal election, Fortier was reappointed to the cabinet as Chair of the Treasury Board. This position gives her responsibility for overseeing the government's financial management and expenditure.

Mona Fortier is married and has two children. She is a resident of Ottawa, Ontario.
