Early Life and Education

Moritz Karl August Axst was born on August 7, 1801, in Naderkau near Wittenberg, Germany. From 1821 to 1825, he studied philology at the University of Halle.

Teaching Career

After graduating, Axst worked as a senior teacher in Kleve. In 1834, he received the title of professor and was appointed director in Wetzlar in 1841. In 1842, he became the director in Kreuznach.

Notable Works

Axst published several programs, including "Die Heilige Schrift, das Buch der Bücher auch in Kulturhistorischer allgemein-wissenschaftlicher Hinsicht" (1862). This work examined the Bible from both a cultural historical and general scientific perspective.

Death and Legacy

Moritz Karl August Axst passed away on July 20, 1863, at the age of sixty-one. He left behind a legacy as an esteemed German philologist and professor.
