Uldis Bērziņš, a renowned Latvian poet and translator, was born in Latvia. He pursued his studies in Latvian philology at the University of Latvia and marked his literary debut with a poetry collection in 1980.
Linguistic Proficiency
Bērziņš's linguistic prowess is exceptional. He has delved into the complexities of Turkish at the Oriental Studies Department of Leningrad University and the Oriental and African Studies Department of Moscow State University. His thirst for languages led him to explore Uzbek in Tashkent State University, Icelandic in Reykjavík University, and further studies in Czechoslovakia and Sweden.
