Morten Tyldum is a Norwegian film director who has gained international recognition for his powerful storytelling and ability to create captivating and thought-provoking films. Early Career and Success
Initially, Tyldum had aspirations of becoming a musician but changed his path after enrolling in film school. He began his career by directing music videos, commercials, and short films. Breakthrough in Film
Tyldum's breakthrough came in 2003 when he directed the critically acclaimed comedy-drama "Buddy," starring Nicolai Cleve Broch and Aksel Hennie. In 2011, Tyldum directed the crime thriller "Headhunters," based on the novel by Jo Nesbø. The film became the highest-grossing Norwegian film of all time up until that point. Transitioning from the Norwegian to the international stage, Tyldum made his debut in British cinema with the historical drama "The Imitation Game" in 2014. The film portrayed the life of mathematician and codebreaker Alan Turing, with Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role. "The Imitation Game" garnered widespread international success and earned multiple Academy Award nominations, including Best Director for Tyldum.
Continued Success and Future Projects
Following the success of "The Imitation Game," Tyldum was offered various projects but ultimately chose to direct the Norwegian-Danish film "Tordenskiold." However, the opportunity to direct another autobiographical project on the international stage outweighed his decision, leading him to accept the offer to direct "Pattern Recognition." This science fiction film, based on the novel by William Gibson, is set to be released in 2022.
