Mother Mother: A Canadian Rock Band

Formation and Debut

In 2005, Canadian guitarist and vocalist Ryan Guldemond founded Mother Mother, initially consisting of his sister Molly Guldemond and college friend Debra-Jean Creelman. The trio's distinctive vocal harmonies gained recognition, leading to supporting gigs with artists such as K'naan and The Cat Empire.

Name Change and Label Deal

In 2006, the band's self-titled debut album was released independently. However, to avoid legal issues, the band signed with Last Gang Records and changed their name to "Mother Mother." The album was re-released in 2007 as "Touch Up" with additional tracks.

Sophomore Success

Mother Mother's second album, "O My Heart," was released in 2008, followed by the departure of Debra-Jean Creelman and the addition of Jasmine Parkin in 2009. Their third album, "Eureka," debuted in 2011 and featured the hit single "The Stand."

Continued Growth and Recognition

In 2012, Mother Mother released their fourth album, "The Sticks," produced by Ryan Guldemond and Ben Kaplan. Their fifth album, "Very Good Bad Thing," dropped in 2014 on Universal Music Group, spawning the single "Get Out The Way."

Recent Releases and Evolution

Mother Mother's latest album, "Dance And Cry," was released in 2018 on their own label, Mother Mother Music. The band continues to produce acclaimed music that showcases their eclectic blend of alternative and indie rock, with a focus on powerful vocals.
