Kazakh Statesman: A Comprehensive Biography
Early Life and CareerSerik Rakhimbekovwas born on November 15, 1949. His early career began as a Mining Supervisor and Komsomol Secretaryat the Zhezkazgan Shaft Construction Trust from 1972 to 1976.
Political Roles
From 1976 to 1991, Rakhimbekov held various Party and Soviet positions. In 1991, he became the Head of Karazhal City Administrationand Chairman of the Administrative Council of the Zhairem-Atasuy Economic Zone.
Parliament Member
From 1995 to 1999, Rakhimbekov served as a Deputy of the Mazhilis Parliamentin its first convocation, where he was a member of the Finance and Budget Committee. In 1999, he was elected as a deputy and Vice Chairman of the Mazhilis Parliamentin its second convocation.
Ministerial Appointments
On September 30, 2004, Rakhimbekov was appointed Minister of Emergency Situationsby Presidential decree. He held this position until August 11, 2005, when he transitioned to a new role.
On November 29, 2005, he was appointed a Senator of the Parliamentby Presidential decree. He served in this capacity until November 24, 2011.
