Achievements and Records

Ostapchuk has had an illustrious career, marked by many remarkable achievements. In 2008, she won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games held in Beijing. In 2012, Ostapchuk set a new record in Belarus by throwing the shot put at a distance of 21.70 meters in Minsk. However, her record was surpassed by Ukrainian athlete Vira Pavlysh, who achieved a distance of 21.69 meters in 1998. Olympic Controversy

At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Ostapchuk initially won the gold medal on August 6th with a throw of 21.36 meters. As a result, Ostapchuk was stripped of her gold medal and the title was awarded to New Zealand's Valerie Adams.

Throughout the 2000s, Ostapchuk faced fierce competition from her compatriot Natalya Mikhnevich and the New Zealand shot putter Valerie Adams. These athletes consistently challenged each other for the top spots in various competitions.
