Education

In 1992, Olha Ladyzhenska graduated from the Kyiv National Pedagogical University named after M.P. Drahomanov with a degree in biology.

Career

Scientist

Olha Ladyzhenska works at the Institute of Microbiology and Virology named after D.K. Zabolotny of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU). Her research focuses on preparing experiments for the International Space Station.

Cosmonaut Candidate

In September 1996, Ladyzhenska was selected for the Ukrainian cosmonaut training program. She underwent initial training in the United States but returned to Ukraine due to medical reasons. Despite not completing the program, she remains on the roster of cosmonauts at the State Space Agency of Ukraine (SSAU).

Awards and Accomplishments

PhD in Biology

Ladyzhenska holds a PhD in biology from the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NASU.

Presidential Award for Young Scientists

In 2003, she received the President of Ukraine's Award for Young Scientists for her work on "Gravisensitivity of Plants at the Cellular and Molecular Levels."
