Biography of Nadezhda Granovskaya

Childhood and Youth

Nadezhda Granovskaya (real surname Meikher) was born on April 10, 1982. She was born in the Ukrainian village of Zbruchivka. After her parents divorced, her mother moved with her to the city of Volochysk. At the age of 6, Nadezhda started school, and at 11, she joined a folk dance group. Her passion for Michael Jackson's music influenced her decision to pursue a career in dancing. She trained for 6 hours a day but later enrolled in a local pedagogical college after finishing 9th grade. To stay connected to her dream of becoming a ballerina, Nadezhda joined the Faculty of Musical Education and Choreography.

Music

In 2000, Nadezhda auditioned for a new group formed by producer Konstantin Meladze in the city of Khmelnytskyi. Despite having no prior musical experience, she believed she could handle the challenges. Nadezhda sent her photos to Kiev and received a positive response. She underwent a transformation, losing weight and changing her last name to Granovskaya. She initially performed as a duet with Alena Vinnitskaya. Her popularity skyrocketed after the release of their first music video for the song "Attempt No. 5." The song quickly climbed the charts and received two prestigious awards. After two years, Nadezhda took a break from her music career but returned to the group after four months. The trio of Nadezhda, Anna Sedokova, and Vera Brezhneva became known as the golden lineup of the group VIA Gra. In 2006, Nadezhda left the group again and pursued a career as a TV presenter. She later made a brief return to VIA Gra in 2009. Throughout her time with the group, Nadezhda contributed to the creation of four studio albums.

Personal Life

Nadezhda has two children. In 2002, she gave birth to her son Igor, whose father's identity was kept a secret until she revealed it on a TV show in 2017. His father is businessman Alexander Lischenko. In 2008, Nadezhda started a relationship with Russian businessman Mikhail Urzhumtsev, and they had a daughter named Anna in 2012. The couple got married two years later, and their second daughter Maria was born a year after their wedding. Nadezhda prefers to keep her personal life private and rarely shares photos of her husband and children on social media.

Current Endeavors

In 2018, Nadezhda expanded her career into acting and appeared in the TV series "Nothing Happens Twice." She played a dramatic character with a complex fate. The same year, she released the song "Nadezhda" along with a music video. In 2019, Nadezhda decided to focus on her dancing career and has been actively practicing. She continues to give concerts and performances in Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine, prioritizing venues with enhanced security due to her family's safety concerns.
