Early Life

Gloria de los Angeles Treviño Ruiz was born on February 15, 1968, at the Hospital Muguerza in Monterrey, Mexico. Her parents are architect Manuel Guillermo Treviño Cantú and Gloria de los Angeles Ruiz Arredondo. Gloria is the oldest of her siblings: Manuel, Luis, Mario, Ramiro, Amalia, and Gustavo from her mother's side, and Mildred, Malena, and Manuelito from her father's side. Growing up, Gloria received little attention and affection, constantly receiving reprimands and punishments because she was a mischievous girl and a poor student.

From a young age, Gloria faced family problems, which led her to leave home at the age of 5. She sought refuge at her neighbor's house, who introduced her to her great-grandmother Aurora and great-grandfather Luis. They became the closest people to Gloria, providing her with the love, care, and understanding she needed. Gloria had a deep love for animals and always had a variety of pets at home, ranging from dogs, cats, and rabbits to hamsters, turtles, chickens, pigeons, mice, goats, and pigs.

Early Musical Talent

When Gloria learned to talk, she began creating short verses that later evolved into rhythms. At the age of 5, she wrote her first song dedicated to a dog named Reyna, who died shortly before getting run over. Despite her young age, Gloria already showed a passion for music and songwriting.

Gloria faced another challenge when she was 12 years old and her parents divorced. She had to become the "mother" to her younger siblings and explain what was happening between their parents. She struggled academically and often skipped classes to write songs, draw, and dream of becoming an artist. Her strict and strong-willed mother would punish her with 25 belt lashes for every missing assignment. However, Gloria continued to pursue her passions, organizing dances and lotteries at school and winning several recitation and singing contests.

The Path to Stardom

Despite the headaches Gloria caused her mother, Mrs. Gloria does not regret anything and is proud of her daughter. She admires Gloria's unwavering determination to fight for her dreams and ideals. When Gloria turned 13, she found her first idol in the Spanish group "Parchis," a sensation in the early 80s. Gloria was so enthralled by them that she formed and managed a fan club called "Cinco maravillas de Parchis" (Five Wonders of Parchis). Her involvement with the fan club further distracted her from her studies.

Gloria's mother was a dance teacher, and Gloria accompanied her to dance classes. She studied ballet from the ages of 4 to 11 and jazz from 12 to 14. One of her fond memories was going to "La Purísima" in Monterrey with her middle school friends and enjoying young corn cobs, which remains one of her weaknesses.

Despite her childhood being more eventful than that of other girls her age, Gloria considers it normal. She experienced both happy and extremely difficult moments that she cannot forget. When she turned 15, a contest was organized on Televisa, searching for a "Chispita look-alike," a character from a telenovela played by Lucero. Gloria decided to participate and won first place. She received a scholarship to study at the Televisa Training Center, a dog like Chispita, a wardrobe from a famous brand, and a small role as the protagonist's cousin in a telenovela.

Gloria decided to stay in Mexico City and use the scholarship, despite her mother's insistence to return to Monterrey. She promised to send money for accommodation and food. After nearly a year at the Training Center, she ran into Ricky Luis, a singer and host of XE-TU, whom she had met years ago in Monterrey when he was a radio announcer. Ricky recommended her to Sergio Andrade, a renowned producer looking for young girls for a musical project called "Boquitas Pintadas." After auditions and training, the group made their debut on the show "Siempre en domingo" with Raul Velasco.

Challenges and Solo Career

After a year of promotion, rumors of difficulties within the group started circulating. There were constant disputes due to unequal recognition, and there were even rumors that Sergio Andrade could not control them. Unfortunately, the group disbanded in 1986, leaving Gloria without financial support from her mother. Undeterred, she continued to study singing, dancing, stage performance, and music while searching for a new way to support herself.

Gloria found employment as an aerobic instructor and applied the skills she learned from her mother. She became immensely successful, teaching around 500 students, both men and women. During this period, she also fell in love with a gynecologist and lived with him in a civil union for three years. However, their relationship deteriorated after a heated argument, leaving Gloria heartbroken.

After crying for 24 hours a day for two weeks, Gloria decided to overcome her depression and sadness. In 1989, she sought out Sergio Andrade again to ask for his help in recording her own album. Sergio, knowing her talent and abilities, agreed to produce her first solo album without any hesitation.

Overcoming Challenges

Despite Sergio Andrade's recent unsuccessful musical projects, he saw potential in Gloria and helped her record her first album as a solo artist. Gloria's determination paid off, and her career as a solo artist took off. She continued to write songs, perform, and achieve success in the music industry. Despite the challenges and controversies that have surrounded her, Gloria remains a resilient and talented artist, fighting for her dreams and ideals.

Gloria Trevi's life has been a rollercoaster of triumphs, struggles, and resilience. She has faced numerous obstacles but has always managed to rise above them. Her story serves as an inspiration to many, showcasing the power of perseverance and the pursuit of one's dreams.
