Gayane Abrahamyan was born on January 23, 1964, in Yerevan, Armenia. She graduated with honors in 1987 from the Department of Theater Studies at the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinematography. Abrahamyan further pursued her education in international journalism for two years.
Professional Background
Abrahamyan's extensive professional training includes courses at the Moscow Institute of Theater Arts, the Moscow State Institute of Cinematographers, and leading Moscow theaters. Her journalistic career began in 1992 as a correspondent for several Armenian publications, including "Ar," "Aravot," "Ayots Ashkhar," and "Aik."
From 1999 to 2006, Abrahamyan served as a political columnist for the newspaper "Aikakan Zhamanak." In 2007, she became the author and host of the political television series "Verełk" on the "Kentron" television company.
Political Career
Abrahamyan's political career commenced in 2007 when she was elected as a member of the Armenian Parliament, representing the "Prosperous Armenia" (PPA) party. On March 5, 2015, she was elected as the Chairperson of PPA.
