Biography of Naomi Lang

Naomi Lang is an American figure skater who is best known for her achievements in ice dancing with partner Peter Chernyshev. She was born to a father who was a pure-blooded Indian from the Karuk tribe, and her Indian name is Mahita Han, which means "Morning Star".

From the age of three to fifteen, Naomi studied ballet, but her interest in figure skating sparked after watching the Ice Capades show. She began her skating career with partner John Lee and they won the US Championships in the novice category in 1995 and the junior category in 1996.

In 1996, Naomi teamed up with Russian skater Peter Chernyshev. In their debut US Championships in 1997, they finished fifth, but quickly rose to third place in 1998. From the following season, they won gold at the tournament for five consecutive times. In 2001, Chernyshev obtained American citizenship, allowing them to compete in the 2002 Olympic Games where they finished 11th. Additionally, the duo won the Four Continents Championships twice in 2000 and 2002.

In 2003, Naomi suffered an injury, causing them to withdraw from the US Championships. After this, they decided to end their amateur competitive career. However, they continue to participate in various shows, such as the "Golden Ice Stradivarius" tour organized by Evgeni Plushenko in cities across Russia.

In 2004, Lang gave birth to her daughter, Lillia Ashlee, whose father is Ukrainian ice acrobat Vladimir Besedin. They soon separated after the birth of their child. In December 2008, Naomi married Mark Fitzgerald, a former ice dancer representing Canada and Kazakhstan. On November 14, 2009, she gave birth to her second child, a son named Mason Daniel.
