Early Life and Education

Naum Aleksandrovich Rogozhin was born on January 31 (February 12), 1879, in Voronezh, Russia. Despite enrolling in the law faculty of Kharkov University in 1900-1904, his passion for acting soon became apparent.

Acting Career

In 1901, Rogozhin joined the acting troupe of the Narodny Dom in Kharkov. In 1904, he moved to St. Petersburg and became part of V.F. Komissarzhevskaya's theater company. Over the years, he performed on stages in various cities, including Petersburg, Moscow, Kiev, and more.

Film Debut and Notable Roles

Rogozhin made his film debut in 1924, playing the role of an English officer in the film "Aelita." Following this, he went on to star in numerous silent and sound films, including "The Cross and the Mauser" (1925), "Poison" (1927), "The Last Attraction" (1929), and "State Official" (1930). In 1938, he portrayed the Black Monk in Sergei Eisenstein's epic historical film "Alexander Nevsky."

Personal Life and Legacy

Rogozhin died on March 17, 1955, leaving behind a remarkable legacy on both stage and screen. His versatility and talent made him a beloved actor and a respected figure in the Russian theatrical and cinematic scene.
