Biography of Nikita Gusev
Nikita Gusev is a Russian ice hockey player who currently plays as a forward for the St. Petersburg SKA in the KHL. He began his hockey career in the Moscow club "Belye Medvedi" in his childhood. In 2009, Gusev started his professional career with the Moscow club "Red Army" in the Minor Hockey League (MHL). In his debut season, he played 53 games and scored 60 points (18+42).
In the 2010/11 season, Gusev also started in the MHL, but in December, he got the chance to debut in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). On December 28, 2010, in a match against Khanty-Mansiysk's "Ugra," he scored his first goal in the league, which also turned out to be the winning goal. Although he only played 18 games for the main team that year, Gusev achieved significant success with the "Red Army." He won the Harlamov Cup with the youth club and became the top scorer, top goal scorer, and the most valuable player of the playoffs. Moreover, Gusev set a league record for the most goals and points scored in the playoffs (17 and 27, respectively).
Gusev was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the seventh round, 202nd overall, of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. In October 2015, SKA traded for Nikita Gusev from "Ugra" for a monetary compensation.
International Career
Nikita Gusev represented the Russian national team in the 2012 World Junior Championships, where he won the silver medal with the team, recording 9 points (3+6) in 7 games. In 2017, he became a bronze medalist in the Ice Hockey World Championship held in Paris and Cologne.
