Early Life and Education

Nikola Gruevski was born on August 31, 1970, in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia. He pursued economic studies, earning diplomas from the Faculty of Economics at the University of "Kliment Ohridski" in Bitola and the Institute of Securities and Investment in London.

Political Career

Gruevski's political journey began in the mid-1990s with his involvement in the conservative Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization – Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity (VMRO-DPMNE). In 1999, he was appointed Minister of Finance, a position he held with remarkable success until 2002. Despite his lack of prior experience, Gruevski's tenure as finance minister saw the implementation of a comprehensive financial system reform, earning him recognition as Macedonia's best finance minister since the republic's inception.

Leadership of VMRO-DPMNE

Following VMRO-DPMNE's defeat in the 2002 parliamentary elections, Gruevski became a member of parliament. In 2003, he was elected Chairman of VMRO-DPMNE, leading the party to a resounding victory in the 2006 parliamentary elections.

Premiership

As the leader of the "For a Better Macedonia" coalition and the Chairman of VMRO-DPMNE, Gruevski became the Prime Minister of Macedonia. He served two consecutive terms, from 2006 to 2016. During his premiership, he focused on economic growth, infrastructure development, and reforms aimed at improving the country's governance and competitiveness.

Personal Life

Gruevski is divorced and has no children. He is known for his sharp intellect, energy, and organizational skills. In his youth, Gruevski was an avid boxer, and he continues to enjoy sports, particularly basketball.
