Nikola Valentic, Serbian Footballer

Early Life and Family Background

Nikola Valentic is a Serbian footballer and defender currently playing for "Kokand 1912." Born in SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, his family fled the civil war in Yugoslavia in the early 1990s. They moved frequently before settling in Belgrade, where 11-year-old Valentic joined OFK's youth academy at the urging of a friend.

Club Career

Valentic eventually made it to the first team, playing in the Serbian second division. In 2002, he received an offer from the Serbian top flight, and in 2006, he caught the attention of Israeli club "Bnei Sakhnin." Valentic faced challenges in Israel due to the anti-Arab sentiment toward "Bnei Yehuda."

Russian and Caucasian Adventures

After six months in Israel, Valentic moved to "Anzhi" Makhachkala in the Russian Premier League. He spent two and a half years there before joining "Alania" Vladikavkaz. In the 2009 season, he was named the best player of the Vladikavkaz club. In early 2010, he signed with "Sibir" Novosibirsk.

International Background

Valentic was born into an international family, with a Croatian father and a Serbian mother. His father, a colonel in the military, remained on duty during the war, while Valentic, his older sister, and their mother were forced to relocate. At one point, there were false reports of his father's death, but he returned home safe and sound after three months.
