Early Life and Military Career
Mykhailo Mykolaiovych Dryhalovich was born on July 7, 1913, in Mykhailivka, Lebedyn Raion, Sumy Oblast, Ukraine. After graduating from the Lebedyn Agricultural Technical School, he went on to earn a degree from the Kyiv Institute of Agricultural Mechanization through correspondence. He worked as a mechanic and chief engineer at the Petrovskoye Beet Farm in Voronezh Oblast.
Mykhailo Dryhalovich served in the Soviet Army from 1935 to 1936. After the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War in 1941, he was mobilized again. He graduated from the 2nd Kyiv Artillery School in Saratov and the Higher Officer Artillery School in Semenov.
Heroic Deeds at the Dnieper
From September 1942 to January 1944, Dryhalovich fought on the Stalingrad, Don, Voronezh, Steppe, and 2nd Ukrainian Fronts. He participated in the Battle of Stalingrad, the Battle of Kursk, and the liberation of Ukraine.
On October 26, 1943, Senior Lieutenant Dryhalovich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for his exceptional courage and bravery during the Dnieper Crossing. As commander of a battery in the 161st Separate Guards Army Cannon Artillery Regiment, he led his unit in the assault on the German defenses across the river.
Post-War Life
After the war, Dryhalovich settled in Saratov and worked in the "Selkhoztekhnika" association. He retired with the rank of Captain. He passed away on September 26, 1987.
Legacy
Mykhailo Mykolaiovych Dryhalovich is remembered as a valiant warrior who fought with distinction during the Great Patriotic War. His heroic deeds during the Dnieper Crossing remain an inspiration to future generations of Ukrainian soldiers.
