Biography of Nikolai Khrystych

Nikolai Khrystych is a Ukrainian pensioner and furniture maker. He began making furniture for his own enjoyment and for some extra income in 2000. Before retiring, Nikolai was a civilian pilot, but he decided to try his hand at a new profession after leaving the airport in Rovno.

Renowned for his craftsmanship, Nikolai gained recognition by creating a furniture set consisting of 12 chairs for the upcoming 'Euro-2012' football championship. It is also known that he is planning a special prize for the tournament's best player - a grandiose throne standing almost 2 meters tall.

From Hobbyist to Skilled Furniture Maker

Initially, Nikolai sold his creations mostly as shelves and wine barrels. However, it became evident that his furniture was exceptional. Nikolai works with the finest types of wood, such as oak, alder, and walnut, and uses high-quality lacquers and paints, mainly of Swedish and Finnish origin. His furniture is aesthetically pleasing, functional, and easily disassembled. Each piece is handcrafted and unique. Nikolai constantly expands his range of products, currently including hunting chairs and rocking chairs.

The Championship Furniture Set

The idea of creating a furniture set for champions had long been brewing in Nikolai's mind, but it took him two years to bring it to fruition. Initially, he planned to make only one or two chairs, but he became fully immersed in the process. As always, Nikolai poured his heart and soul into his work, resulting in a top-quality product. Each chair is distinguished by its unique design and carved patterns. The chair backs are oval-shaped, and the legs are crafted in the form of lion's paws. The carved motifs depict the championship emblem and various imaginary football battles, with even bulls and roosters fighting for the ball.

Additional Creations for the Championship

The championship furniture set and throne are not the only items that Nikolai has prepared for the upcoming tournament. He also made a special chair for German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is well-known for her love of football. The "Chancellor's" chair, like all of Nikolai's creations, is adorned with a unique pattern - in this case, eagle carvings. Another one of Nikolai's chairs features the symbolism of the Ukrainian national team.
