Early Life and Education

In 1996, Nikolay Khomeriki graduated from the economics faculty of the Moscow International University. After working as an accountant for Coca-Cola, he pursued further education abroad. Khomeriki enrolled in two Dutch universities in Maastricht and Amsterdam.

Business Venture in the Netherlands

Subsequently, he co-founded a company in Amsterdam that specialized in importing household chemicals from the Netherlands to Russia.

Film Education and First Works

In 2000, Khomeriki completed the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors in Moscow under the mentorship of Vladimir Khotinenko, Pavel Finn, and Vladimir Fenchenko. His debut work was a three-minute film titled "Drop," which won an award at the Sopot Film Festival. In 2001, he received a grant from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs to study in Paris.

Filmmaking Career in France

In 2005, Khomeriki graduated from the directing department of the prestigious La Fémis film school. During his final year, he was invited by Philippe Garrel to assist on the film "Regular Lovers," which won the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival.

International Recognition and Feature Films

Khomeriki's short film "Two" competed in the Cinéfondation section of the 2005 Cannes Film Festival and won the second prize. His feature film debut, "977," entered the Special Gaze competition at Cannes. His subsequent film, "A Fairy Tale About Darkness," screened both at the Kinotavr Film Festival and the Special Gaze program at Cannes, with Boris Kamorzin receiving the Best Actor award at Kinotavr.

Award-Winning Films and Festival Success

Khomeriki's film "Boomerang Hearts" won the Kommersant Prize at the Moscow Film Festival. "The Sea is Worried Once" won the main prize at the 2021 Kinotavr Film Festival.
