Early Life and Education
Nila Valerivna Krolenko was born on November 14, 1943, in the village of Popovka, Ukraine. After graduating from the Kyiv State Institute of Theatrical Arts in 1967, she embarked on her acting career.
Theater and Philharmonic Work
Krolenko began her stage career at the "Slovo" Theater. In 1967, she joined the Kyiv Philharmonic Orchestra, where she worked for 43 years. She gained recognition for her powerful performances and inspiring artistic talent.
Film and Television
Krolenko's film debut came in 1967 with the movie "Bur'yan." Over the following decades, she starred in numerous films, including "On the Kyiv Direction" (1967), "The Missing Letter" (1972), and "The Kaidash Family" (1996). Her portrayal of Babushka Paraska in the latter earned her widespread acclaim.
Humanitarian Efforts
In the aftermath of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986, Krolenko was one of the first artists to perform in the affected area. Her courageous act brought solace and support to the survivors.
Recognition and Awards
Throughout her illustrious career, Krolenko received numerous honors, including the title of Hero of Ukraine (2008), the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise (2006), and the State Prize of Ukraine named after Taras Shevchenko (1989). She was also named a People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR in 1985.
Personal Life and Legacy
Krolenko was married to Anatoliy Barcuk, a fellow People's Artist of Ukraine. The couple had a daughter, journalist Miroslava Barcuk, and a grandson, Ivan. Nila Krolenko passed away on October 5, 2018, leaving behind a legacy of artistic excellence and humanitarian spirit.
