Nino Katamadze is a Georgian jazz singer and composer known for her unique musical style and experimentation. From a young age, she was immersed in a creative environment, surrounded by family members who were involved in various artistic pursuits such as jewelry making, singing, playing instruments, and sewing.
Growing up, Nino was mentored by her uncle Shota, who taught her how to sing and play instruments. By the age of four, she was already performing on stage, and by seven, she began touring. This early exposure to music shaped her passion and talent, and she quickly realized that music was her calling.
Nino's journey into jazz began when she first heard the genre and found it to be a means of answering her questions and expressing herself. She was captivated by the freedom and endless possibilities that jazz offered, describing it as a pathway to constant creativity. The "White" album features music with electronic accompaniment, offering a more serene and delicate sound. In contrast, the "Black" album is a live studio recording, delivering a more energetic and dynamic experience. While both albums are distinct, some songs like "Olei" and "Once on the Street" are intentionally included in both to explore different perspectives and interpretations.
Nino's music is not only influenced by jazz but also by her perception of colors. She believes that everyone has their own dominant color and internal temperature, which can be translated and complemented through music. Her music is often described as neutral and bright, reflecting her own perception of life's hues.
In addition to her musical career, Nino has also ventured into composing music for films. She collaborated with her guitarist, Goce Kacheishvili, to create original music for various films, such as "Apple" and "Orange Sky." Nino finds similarities between music and film, as both mediums tell stories and evoke emotions within a limited timeframe. She believes that her role as a musician in film is to delicately enhance the story and create a symbiotic relationship between the visuals and the music, allowing the audience to immerse themselves fully in the narrative.
