Biography of Norayr Davtyan
Norayr Rafaelovich Davtyan (Armenian: Առաջին երգչության մեկնաբան Նորայր Դավթյան) was born on January 24, 1950, in Yerevan, Armenia. He is an Armenian statesman and has made significant contributions to the field of healthcare in the country.
Education and Medical Career
From 1966 to 1972, Davtyan studied at the Faculty of Medicine at Yerevan State Medical Institute. Following his graduation, he underwent training in surgery at the same institute from 1972 to 1973. He then worked as a surgeon in the burn department of Clinical Hospital No. 6 in Yerevan from 1973 to 1976. In pursuit of further specialization in burn surgery, Davtyan completed his internship at the Vishnevsky Institute in Moscow from 1976 to 1980.
In 1980, Davtyan began his doctoral research at the Vishnevsky Institute, where he defended his dissertation and earned the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences. He has authored 72 scientific articles and 8 methodological guidelines, and served as the head of a scientific topic.
Career in Healthcare
Davtyan's career in healthcare administration began in 1982 when he became the chief specialist in burn surgery at the Ministry of Health of Armenia. He went on to serve as the head of the pediatric burn department from 1985 to 1991, followed by his appointment as the director of the Burn Center at the Republican Center for Radiation Medicine and Burns from 1991 to 1996.
In 1996, Davtyan underwent further training in burn surgery in the United States and subsequently led a scientific topic on the treatment of severe burns at the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia. He was elected as an Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences in 2003.
From 1997 to 2003, Davtyan served as an associate professor at the Department of Radiation Medicine and Burns at the National Institute of Health of Armenia. He then held the position of Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia from 2003 to 2007. Additionally, Davtyan is a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun (ARFD).
Norayr Davtyan's extensive knowledge and experience in burn surgery and healthcare administration have greatly contributed to the development of healthcare in Armenia.
