Origins and Early Days

On May 12, 1998, a melodic speed metal band emerged in Sweden when Freddie and Jake bonded over their shared love for bands like Helloween, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest. They were joined by Jake's bandmate Gustav, a talented drummer from the death metal band Vapid, and Eric, another Vapid member who would take on guitar duties. With Freddie doubling as bassist, Nostradameus was complete.

A Chance Meeting and a Breakthrough

In May 1998, Nostradameus performed at two local rock events, catching the attention of Magnus Lundbok, the head of Gain Productions. Impressed, Lundbok offered them studio space, leading to their first demo in December 1998. The demo was sent to five German record labels, and AFM Records responded positively, resulting in a contract in April 1999.

Debut Album and Lineup Changes

Throughout 1999, Nostradameus worked tirelessly on their debut album. Recording took place at Helsinki's Finnvox Studio, and the result, "Words of Nostradameus," was a resounding success. However, Gustav and Eric decided to leave the band, citing time constraints.

Welcome New Members

Undeterred, Freddie and Jake recruited Michael Eberg, a gifted guitarist from the band M.M.M., and Jesse, a drummer who eagerly joined after seeing a recruitment ad. As the band worked on new material, they added a permanent bassist, Thomas, a friend of Jesse's who had played in various bands.

The Success of "The Prophet of Evil"

In August 2001, Nostradameus released their second album, "The Prophet of Evil," to critical acclaim. Plans for a European tour were dashed when Jesse departed. However, Thomas once again stepped in, inviting his friend Esko Salova to take over on drums. The revamped band embarked on a successful tour.

Continued Success and Future Endeavors

Fueled by their momentum, Nostradameus returned to the studio to record their next album. With their dedicated fans and unwavering passion, the band continued to forge ahead, leaving an enduring mark on the melodic speed metal scene.
