Legal Career

Nurgul Bakirova, a Kyrgyz national, holds a bachelor's degree in Law from Kyrgyz State University, which she obtained in 1995. Her professional career began that same year as an intern, followed by positions as a prosecutor in the Investigation Department and senior assistant to the prosecutor in the Osh Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Academic Pursuits

From 1997 to 1999, she served as deputy dean for academic affairs at the Law Faculty of Osh State University. She then became head of the Department of Special Legal Disciplines and later deputy dean of the Law Faculty at the Bishkek State Institute of Economics and Commerce.

Judicial Experience

Bakirova's judicial career commenced in 2003 when she was appointed as a judge in the Osh City Court, a position she held until 2007. In 2007, she was appointed as deputy chairman of the Osh Regional Court, where she worked for six years.

Director of Law Firm and Government Service

In 2013, she became director of the law firm "Nur and Co," where she remained until 2015. From 2016 to 2018, she served as a counselor to the Minister and head of legal support for the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Supreme Court Judge and Chief Justice

On May 23, 2018, Bakirova was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic. On September 27, 2020, she became deputy chairman of the Supreme Court. On April 22, 2021, she was elected as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, a position she held until February 2022.
