Early Life and Education

Ukrainian writer, culturologist, and philosopher Borys Gutsulyak was born into a family with strong literary and cultural ties. His grandfather, Mykhailo Gutsulyak, was a Lieutenant in the Ukrainian Galician Army and a prominent children's writer, while his father, Borys Mykhailovych Gutsulyak, was a renowned chemist. Borys Gutsulyak completed his secondary education at Ivano-Frankivsk School No. 17 in 1987.

He then pursued his undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Philology at Vasyl Stefanyk Prykarpattia National University in Ivano-Frankivsk, graduating in 1993 with a specialization in Ukrainian Language and Literature. He continued his education as a postgraduate student at the same university, receiving his Candidate of Philosophical Sciences degree in 2006 with a dissertation on Neo-Paganism as a Worldview Phenomenon.

Literary and Research Career

Gutsulyak's literary and research career began early. His works were among the first to appear in the renowned Ukrainian literary magazine "Chetver." He is considered part of the "Ivano-Frankivsk Phenomenon," a group of prominent writers and intellectuals associated with the city.

Cultural and Academic Contributions

Gutsulyak is a highly regarded scholar, whose research interests encompass geopolitics, narrative systems, and the study of premordial or ancient traditions. He is the author of the geo-cultural concept "Mesogeya (Mesoeurasia)," which explores the Eurasian cultural and geographical space.

As a leading figure in the field of narratalogical analysis, Gutsulyak established the Institute of Strategic Analysis of Narrative Systems and directs the Group for the Study of the Foundations of the Original Tradition "Mesogeia/Mesogaea."

Political Involvement

Gutsulyak's intellectual pursuits have extended into political activism. He served as a co-chair and later as the head of the Ukrainian Intellectual Club of New Rightists "Golden Griffin." He has also held positions as the vice-president of the Thule-Sarmatia Metapolitical Association and the Eastern Bonapartist Committee - Bureau of Political Research.

Honors and Recognition

Gutsulyak's contributions to scholarship and social thought have earned him accolades. In 2008, he received the honorable title of "Best Scientific Worker of the Year" from the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast State Administration and the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Council.
