He graduated with honors in 1956.
Academic CareerIn 1957, Koнопкиn joined the Psychological Institute of the Russian Academy of Education (RAO).
He worked in the Laboratory of Occupational Psychology and rose through the ranks to become a full member of the RAO.
For over three decades, he headed the Laboratory of Psychology of Self-Regulation.
He also served as the Scientific Secretary of the Institute, Deputy Director, and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Voprosy Psikhologii."
