Birth and Education

Mikhail Kudrinwas born on July 11, 1964, in Odessa, Ukraine. He graduated from the Faculty of Geology and Geography at Odessa State University in 1986. In 1996, he obtained a Ph.D. in Pedagogical Sciences from Kyiv.

Humor and the Media

Kudrin was a member of the Odessa University's "Gentlemen of Odessa University" team, winning the KVN humor competition in 1990 and the first Summer Cup in 1994. He worked for the newspaper "Gudok," where he edited the satirical "Tormozhnoy Bashmak" column. He also edited the newspaper "LOKO" for the FC Lokomotiv football club.

Writing Career

Kudrin has written extensively as a journalist and author. He collaborated with Valentin Krapiv and Vsevolod Lyumkis on the humorous history of Odessa, "The Odessa Satiricon." In collaboration with actor and KVN author Boris Khudimov, he penned two plays: "Pro Vasiliya, Vodu i Zhid-rybu" and "Pogranichnaya Derevnya."

Novels

Kudrin's first novel, "Fondurin 917," parodied the October Revolution of 1917. Despite initially being planned for publication in the magazine "October," the rights holders prohibited its release. His subsequent novel, "The Code of Venichka," was listed among the top 50 books of the year by the newspaper NG-Exlibris. His bilingual novel, "Poltavskaya Peremoga," explored an alternative history where the Swedish Empire defeated Russia in the Battle of Poltava.

Critical Analysis

Kudrin's latest work, "Fon Quixote Gothic," provides a critical examination of the Nazi interpretation of Miguel de Cervantes' "Don Quixote." The book was published in the magazine "October" with a preface by renowned Cervantes scholar Vsevolod Bagno. Kudrin is currently working on a new book focusing on the life and work of Heinrich Heine.

Additional Activities

In addition to his writing, Kudrin has participated in the Ukrainian diaspora in Moscow and written non-fiction pieces on the topic. He is also active in literary institutes, notably by novelizing the popular TV series "Carmelita-1."
