Olga Puchkova Biography

Early Life and Career

Olga Puchkova was born on September 27, 1987, in Moscow. She began her tennis career as a junior, representing Belarus and achieving the world No. 1 ranking in the ITF under-12 age group in 1999. In 2003, she won her first ITF junior title at the US Junior International Hard Court Championships.

Professional Career

Puchkova turned professional in 2002. In 2003, she won her first professional tournament in Baltimore. In 2006, she made her WTA Tour debut in Hobart, Australia. She won her first WTA Tour title in Birmingham that year, defeating Viktoriya Kutuzova.

Breakthrough Year

2006 proved to be a breakthrough year for Puchkova. She reached the third round of the Australian Open and the second round of the French Open. She also won her third ITF title in Hammond, Louisiana, and reached the final of the WTA Tour event in Kolkata, India. In June 2007, she achieved her highest world ranking of 32.
