Early Life and Education
Born on November 9, 1948, in Kyzyl-Orak, Kazakhstan, the politician began his career as a laborer at the Zhana Kogamsky state farm. In 1974, he graduated from Kazakh State University with a degree in law.
Career in Law Enforcement
From 1974 to 1980, he served as an investigator for the prosecutor's office in Alma-Ata. Over the next decade, he held various positions within the prosecutor's office, including Procurator of the Mangistau Region and Almaty Region.
Government and Political Roles
In 2003, he became the Minister of Justice of Kazakhstan, followed by a stint as Chairman of the Central Election Commission from 2005 to 2007. In 2007, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration.
Judicial Leadership
On February 14, 2008, he was appointed Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council of Kazakhstan, a position he held until 2012.
Member of Parliament
Since January 2012, he has served as a Member of Parliament in the 5th convocation of the Majilis.
Awards and Honors
His contributions have been recognized through the Order of Dank (2001), the Order of Parasat (2009), and the Medal of the 20th Anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence (2011).
